An Illusion of the Galaxies

Spent a couple fun filled hours shooting abstracts in my kitchen using nothing more than a bottle of flavored water, a multi-color LED light, a 50 mm 1.8 lens and a couple Kenko extension tubes. Shot hundreds of pictures but like with any experiment there are lots of errors and ones that will meet that Great Delete button in the Sky. I did edit these images as the RAW files were more than flat.

The funny thing is that I didn't start out shooting abstracts. I was actually trying to shoot macros of some maple tree seed pods I collected last spring. I had set the camera down on the counter and accidentally pressed the shutter--the lens happened to be pointing at the bottom of my water bottle and the resulting image inspired me to keep experimenting with different light sources and techniques. The more I played around with different combinations the more absorbed (obsessed) I became and you folks will see the results of those couple obsessed (possessed) hours in the coming months.

Until then, I leave you with this (probably unoriginal thought) you never know where inspiration is going to strike. You can't defend against it, so you might as well enjoy it!
