Destinations UnknownMy wheels have rolled to Sacramento;
up and down Donner Pass
where they make you chain up
even when there’s no snow

    Someday I think I’d like
    some variety for a change
    and just take off on my own
    to a destination unknown

Then they rolled through Reno
and across the hellish high desert
and its miles of straight line sagebrush
with a curve or two just for show

    all the places I’ve seen
    through a windshield
    leave me empty and alone
   
FencelineWalking the fenceline,
father and son,
dads big steps,
makes the little man run

they are fixing the hole
where the cows got out
Because cows are better within,
rather than without

hammer and staples
and fencing pliers
are all they need
to mend broken wires.

dads' knowing hands,
shows how it is done,
and gives a lesson
to the little one.

the lesson is this:
work is its' own reward, you see?
it must be approached with skill
and integrity

isn't it grand to see

Quite a while ago--I bought my first D-SLR, a Nikon D40. Some of the very first pics I took with it were of this strange Death Star looking flower. I only posted one of them. I recently found another post worthy shot on my PC harddrive. This one has a bit more color in the background from the original one and there is a second Death Star in the cropped frame. (The Empire is working overtime :icondarthvaderplz:)

The flower has a name :excited: According to :iconn1c0la: the flowers name is: "Echinops ritro". Thank you for that :highfive:
