Description
Mesa Arch in Canyonlands National Park, Utah.
This is as good a shot as I could get at Mesa Arch when I was there this spring. It was mid-day, the sun was fierce and the wind was more fierce. Really, I should have just called it a day instead of hiking the half mile to shoot a bunch of shots I knew I would never use.
I passed on the traditional before sunrise set up because a Hassleblad photography tour with about 30 participants got to the parking area just ahead of me and I knew there wouldn't be that much room for all those tripods and people in the bowl so I went elsewhere for sunrise.
'Tis about a 500 foot drop just over that lip. I peered over the edge. It's quite dizzing!
Maybe I'll get back there one day for a better shot showing the entire arch...maybe not. For now this will do for me.
