Prairie Thunder by Corvidae65 Prairie Thunder by Corvidae65
I wasn't going to upload anything for a while as I am so backed up on messages and devaitions, but then I remembered the Stormy Weather contest that :iconcsnyder: and :iconmisty2007: are holding.

this shot was taken about 35 miles south of Valentine, Nebraska in the Sandhills Wildlife refuge. I was on my way back from Missouri and pulled over hoping that there would be some wild color on the distant thunderstorm as the sun set. It was a little anti-climatic, but this image came out pretty good.

I tried to get as high on a hill as I could so as to catch the reflection of the thunderheads in the water. I didn't even notice the ducky swimming along until I got home :D

Anyway--this will be my last upload for a few days. I need to get caught up. There may be some turbo-faving going on, but know that if I put a :+fav: on your work that I love it!

Do please check out The contest and maybe enter a work--you never know...you might win! :winner:

Thank you for looking, commenting and faving (if you do ;))

Overwhelming sight, John... these clouds are really majestic and menacing... You are really corageous !!!
I don't know how those storms move, but here they move really quick and they can be so powerful that it could be dangerous to stay out. (You were near some shelter ?)

When hubby and I were dating (looooong ago), we were at the beach and a coming storm mesmerized us to the point that we only decided to leave when a strong wind started to blow. The strength of the storm was really huge, and I remember that he forced me to run even if I was out of breath after a while, because trees and branches were falling and flying. I had no shoes on and the ground was full of stones that hurted me and he gave me his shoes !! And then he made me run again by pulling my hand until we were safe at the place we were staying.

That made me conscious of how dangerous it can be to be out without shelter if clouds are approaching. You never know what they can bring

The sight is once more stunning. The colors are impressive, the reflection is beautiful... and that little duck !!!! He is so sweet !!!! :aww:
This is a great work and I wish you good luck at the contest :w00t:

I might select some of my Valizas storm photos, just for the fun of participating. They fit there ! :)

I also need to catch up on both messages and deviations, so feel free to leave mine for later.

Not really courageous--the storm was many miles to the east and moving away from me :D It sure made for a nice opportunity though! I was hoping for some nice lightning shots when the sun went down, but by then, it was too far away.

Your storm story is one I can relate too :D Your hubby sure is good to even give you the shoes off his feet. What a guy! :iconthumbplz: Now, THAT'S love

I had driven through this same storm about 2 hours earlier, but it wasn't as big as it is here and all it was was rain--no lightning in it. Maybe the duck knew there wasn't much danger of being struck by lightning and decided to have a swim anyway :D

Definately enter the contest if you have one or two of shots
Thanks again, M! :glomp:

Oh, ok then... you were pretty safe in that case
You know... sometimes I feel sorry for not getting X shots
that I hoped for... but then I say to myself that there are
so many other things to come, so many marvels awaiting in
our future... if a specific shot was not meant to be... then
another will take its place

I am convinced that animals know exactly what´s coming or
going to happen. You were smart to pay attention to its behaviour!!

I did enter the contest with two of my storm shots. Placed them
in my gallery with the links to the contest and sent a note :w00t:
