Spearfish Falls in Spearfish Canyon South Dakota. Took me a while to find this falls even though it was an easy walk :slow:

I wanted to try out that new Hoya ND400 neutral density filter I bought last winter--this is a 30 second exposure in broad daylight. I made adjustments in Camera Raw.

I'm impressed with this filter  but I plan a return to this place soon and try some other angles and filter strengths. The creeks (there are 2 creeks here--the one flowing past is Spearfish Creek and the one making the waterfall is Little Spearfish Creek) are running fast and fairly deep right now due to all the rain we've gotten lately. When the creeks flows reduce I'm going across

Thanks for looking, commenting and faving :thanks:

Thank you Emily :) I agree about the color--not great light in that valley at any time of day. No sunrise light or sunset light can get to it. The falls are almost always in shadow and the trees and stream get a little. it's kind of a nightmare to shoot :frustrated: I'm going to try to get there this weekend for a night shoot under the full moon. The light will be more even then
