The Importance of Blue

Description

Blue is important, but not as an emotion. Consider the hue of blue and then try to think of things that are traditionally blue as any other color...the ocean, the sky, bluebirds, blueberries, forget-me-nots...

How blue came to be associated with being down or depression I don't know, but we are funny creatures, humans. I prefer to associate these forget-me-nots with passion rather than depression because of the love I have for all things summer (which is why I post flower pics in winter ) and the color reminds me somewhat of the steel blue eyes of my wife

I took a lot of shots of these forget-me-nots last summer but didn't post but one mostly due to a lack of time for processing but also because I was in the throes of my own depression for many months--you could say I was blue.

All I guess I'm saying is that it took many months to find the causes of the depression I had and found that I wasn't really depressed, but angry.

Anyway, you folks probably don't care about all that and I don't want to bring you down but maybe inspire you to do a little self-examination if you need to. It helps. It really helps.

This is a beautiful shot and I agree with you about the colour blue.
I'm guessing that the reference would be to the angry dark blue of a stormy sea or sky.
That is kind of what my depression feels like at times.
But the bright blue of summer skies, spring Forget-me-nots and luscious blueberries doesn't
strike me as very depressing :aww:
