What About The World Around Us by Corvidae65 What About The World Around Us by Corvidae65

Kind of a story behind this capture (I'm still tickled to have gotten this shot :excited:) I had a load I was taking to Cody, Wyoming the other day--had to leave the night before to make the unload time. So I drove all night and watched the flashes and lights of a thunderstorm for most of it; hating every minute of not being able to catch it in time to shoot some pictures :icontantrumplz:

Anyway, I stopped at a little pull off area just north of Thermopolis, Wyoming to take a little break and try to shoot some sunrise shots--great clouds were in the area and this one *was* producing a bolt of lightning every so often. It was the kind of lightning that happens when a storm is dying and is just expending the last ergs of energy it has left. (The bolts are usually very fast and very weak--still cool though 8-))

Well the sunrise colors didn't really pan out and I only shot 3 frames total but managed to catch this display in the last one. One of the better bolts I saw that morning. I smiled big all the way to Cody and back to home. Now I present this to you for your viewing pleasure :aww:

You were lucky to be able to catch these thunderbolts with only three frames left...the result is impressive. :)

Warm fuzzies all around when that happens :aww: :iconfurryglompplz: It doesn't happen for me that often during daylight storms--usually it takes many more shots to get things dialed in but experience has taught me to remember to set the ISO down and squinch down the apeture

Thank you :smooch:

Thank you very much brother :manhug: I almost passed up this turn out for another farther up that has wild rocks, windblown trees and a fantastic eastern view for sunrise shooting. Glad I didn't as the sunrise fizzled out :giggle: I'll get to that place soon though! :shakefist:

 delivered and so is your message. Thank you :thanks:

Thank you Mim  These times are rare for me so I'm thankful for them when they work out. Been doing a lot of shooting through the windshield and out the side window--not terribly satisfying but sometimes produces a nice result.
