It's been an interesting couple weeks since my last journal.  I appreciate all the support!  Lots of great comments on featuring people.  That's what it was all about--to engage folks in conversation about something important to me.  Without you folks, I wouldn't do these journals or features.  I do them for you.

Not to say I won't have my say before you get to see them, mind you  I get to rambling about all kinds of disparate things--O.K.  Digressing.  Eventually I'll come back around to some kind of point, but first,, let's wander a while! LOL!

Retirement is going OK.  I have to guard against wasting hours and days--which is easy to do with the whole internet to explore  I've got other work to do and I best be getting to it.  I don't miss driving much.  I was ready to get out.

In The CornerI'm trying to write something about this Greek salad
with too much oil
in a town with only one gas station.
There's a rip in the orange plastic
in the corner booth where I'm sitting.
I know this because I'm trying to write something
about loneliness.
About hurting for late afternoon skies in summer.
When sun is thrown against the trees
and leaves are just about turning.
I'm trying to write something about the passing of time
and how no one knows
what has passed through me.
I write because we move through this world alone.
I'm trying to write about strength because sometimes,
I write out of hurt and how to make hurt okay.
I'm trying to write because writing might be all we ever have
and even that might not be enough.
