Description

I've been in a snit lately   It occurred to me while reading a photography magazine article on how to do the latest, greatest editing tricks that photography in the digital age has become less about the art of making the picture and more about how good you are at editing in this program or that.  Now, I'm guilty of editing pretty heavily myself at times and I don't have a problem with editing.  Hell, Ansel Adams was one of the originators of darkroom magic and his name is held on high as one of the greatest photographers ever--and that honor is well deserved, too because he pretty much is.

What my snit is about is the fact that I was trying to figure out how I was going to afford the near $1,000 to buy the latest version of an editing software and the online training classes so I would know how to use it perfectly (don't get the impression that I know ANYthing about any software editing program--I'm dumber than a sack of hammers in the technology department) and in the middle of that musing it came to me that I don't need it.  Flat don't need it!  If I can't get the images I want in the camera using nothing but my knowledge (limited),  my camera and a few lenses and filters then I don't deserve to be a photographer.

So, for a while I will be posting unedited Jpeg photos.  I will shoot those photos in RAW + Jpeg Fine because my camera will allow that and I do want a RAW file in case I want to edit a shot and save it as a TIFF for printing.  I will use whatever settings and features my camera has like multiple exposure.  I will use my filters.  I will use my tripod. I will shoot whatever strikes my fancy--just like always (but I see myself returning to night shooting and light painting.)  Eventually, I will edit some photos but not right now.

I *WILL* have fun again! Dammit! :icontantrumplz:

Eventually, I will edit some photos but not right now.

From an old folder--4 years ago.  Camera was a Nikon D40 and this is a Jpeg straight from the camera.  No editing...not even my name.  This one is free and dedicated to you.  Download it if you want.  Use it as wallpaper if you want. Manipulate it if you want--you don't even have to give credit
